About PLAYER

PLAYER directs the audience into seven oil paintings of soloists centered in suspended theater sets. Each canvas is six by nine feet and presents the operatic moment of life-size characters waiting for their light, staring out from the woods, swinging from the moon, hanging by their foot, stepping into the dark. They are costumed after revisited fairytales and lost mythology, playing or being played.

PLAYER is a cohesive body of work created to debut together. The size, syndication and production of layers interact with each other. The body of work is curated in the sequence of a larger narrative- a diorama of illuminated scenes.

Peregrine Honig began the series PLAYER in 2021 after receiving The Studios Inc StudioExchange, a competitive residency curating mid-career artists into accessible downtown production spaces. Studios Inc is programed with curators and collectors and includes a six week public solo exhibition.
